Festival highlights at the Sandown Park Food Festival included demos and entertainment from award winning chefs and TV stars, the announcement of our Fantastic Food Star 2016 Winner and a popular programme of cookery workshops.

Great British Bake Off 2015 winner, Nadiya Hussain treated enthusiastic crowds to two cookery demonstrations, creating dishes such as Bengali Korma and Coconut Macaroons from her new books Nadiya’s Kitchen and Bake Me A Story. Visitors were able to meet and chat to Nadiya at book signings and meet and greet sessions throughout the day.
Nadiya also crowned Jack Sturgess of Bake With Jack overall winner of our Fantastic Food Star Award 2016. Category winners and finalists Coombe Farm Organic and Merryhill Mushrooms also showcased their products at the event.
On Saturday, CBeebies presenter Katy Ashworth delighted young children with her fun shows, packed full of singing, dancing and lots of laughs.
Other guests included Patti Sloley, resident chef at the Novelli Academy; Rob Kennedy, Executive Chef at The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and Lorna from The Little Indian Kitchen.
As ever, visitors were able eat and stock up on tasty produce from festival food stalls – fine wines, Indian street food, regional cheeses, natural jellies, craft beers, artisan breads and more were the order of the day.
Those wanting to brush up on their kitchen skills took the opportunity to join The Confident Cook sessions whilst children flocked to Kids in the Kitchen cookery workshops which included making homemade pizza, flavouring butter for garlic bread and decorating cupcakes.
